The Pitch

Long ago, in the back pages of newspapers nobody remembers, a small advertisement appeared. The fellow who placed it, history records, simply asked the reading public to send him a dollar to tickle their fancy. They did. He mailed them a feather. He retired, presumably, to a house with windows.

We have inherited this tradition with profound seriousness. Our feathers are real. Our envelopes are opaque. Our methods are completely above board, though we admit they are not, strictly speaking, complicated. You give us twelve dollars. We send a feather to whoever you like. That is the entire business.

This works splendidly as: a gift, a hint, a confession, a long-running joke between you and a friend, a small revenge, an apology, or a Tuesday.

"I received a feather in the post. I am told this means something. It is among the more interesting Wednesdays I have had." — Mrs. E. Hattersley, by reply card
"Light. Inscrutable. Genuinely a feather." — The Gazette, Province Unspecified
"My fancy was tickled. I shall be ordering one for my brother, with whom I am cross." — A Satisfied Patron, Address Withheld

Frequently Confessed Inquiries

What, precisely, do I receive?
One (1) feather. Genuine. Of pleasing appearance. Tucked into a plain envelope and posted to the address you provide at checkout.
Does it actually tickle?
Vigorously, when applied with intent. Modestly, when displayed on a mantel.
Can I send one to someone else?
That is, in fact, the recommended use. Enter their address as the shipping address at checkout. We will say nothing of who sent it unless you write a note in the order notes field.
Is this serious?
The transaction is. The feather is. The premise is up to you.
How long until it arrives?
Within five (5) business days, conditions of the postal service permitting.
